My new baby!
Saturday, August 7th, 2004 03:53 pmI got another bird today. So Kiley has someone to keep her company. You can see Kiley here.
Here's my new baby:

I'm thinking of calling her Bailey. I say 'her' but the truth is, it's very difficult to tell at this early age what sex they are. So I kind of want a name that'll go with either sex, in case she turns out to be a he. Hayley has been suggested, and I really like that too, but I can't see it for a boy.
All my birds have had two syllable names ending in Y. Kirby, Colby (who started life as Colette, 'cause I thought he was a she at first), Riley and Kiley... and now... ? Bailey? What do you all think? Any other ideas?
If you're wondering why her beak is partly black, it's because she's so young. She was only fledged a week ago. I wanted one that's young so I can try and teach it to like people. So far she just bites me though, and that beak is sharp! LOL
We took my 3 year old nephew and 2 year old niece with us - they and my sis-in-law are here visiting again (from LA) - and they got to see tiny baby birds and eggs in some nest boxes. They seemed really interested in all of it. It's always fun when you have a chance to see something like that through a child's eyes.
Well, that's it for now. Unless you all want to hear about my physical and pelvic exam yesterday... LOL. At least I don't have to have a mammogram this year - my doc says it safe for me to go every other year until I'm forty, since my mom got breast cancer at a fairly advanced age (72). I go see my thyroid cancer doctor on Monday... I've been feeling really run down for the last month or two, and I suspect my thyroid levels might be off. I actually hope that's what it is, because at least that's relatively easy to fix with medication.
Oh... I have two new wallpapers almost done... watch for a site update announcement soon! :-)
