Transfer complete
Completely fucked up. No, not really. It just fucked up my email a little.
Apparently I'm obsessive/compulsive. This isn't really news, but it was driven home to me early this morning when I realized that the file transfer had caused me to lose all my email from the evening of Oct. 5th to yesterday morning. (If you sent me an email during this time and I hadn't already responded, please resend. Thnx.) A little over a week's worth of email - both outgoing and incoming. I save a lot of my emails. This is seriously fucking with my head that I don't have those few days worth of emails. God I'm the most pathetic creature on earth.
Other than the email problem, I was actually rather impressed with how the Intellimover data transfer software worked. I still have a lot of sorting out to do, but most everything is right where it should be. The sorting out is mostly because I transferred some files myself before doing the big transfer.
Anyway, it took about 15 1/2 hours to transfer about 55 gigabytes of data over a USB to USB connection. I think that's pretty good. 55 gig is a lot to transfer all at once.
Still got tons of work to do to get my new computer all organized the way I want it, but at least everything is *here* now.
On an unrelated note, I saw "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" tonight for the first time. I was hoping/expecting Michael Pitt to have more screen time.

That's on my list of things to do this weekend. I want to clear off the old drive, write as much onto DVD storage as I can and generally neaten things up. My old computer was a crowded mess. I want to try and be better with this one!

And I hear you about the messy drives. My C and D drives both have a ton of junk on them (to the point that they won't even defrag all the way) and I keep telling myself that I'll delete all the unneeded crap on there and clean them up... and then I don't. Kudos to you for actually doing it! You're such an inspiration. Maybe I'll get around to doing it someday soon too. *sigh*
