Need movie recs

Let's pretend ::cough:: that I've seen practically no new movies in the past 6 years. I just joined Blockbuster Online, and I need recommendations. What (other than The Lord of the Rings Trilogy) do you recommend? I like romance, but not too mainstream. I like drama. I like some sci-fi. Anything with a gay theme will go to the top of the list. But I'm open to anything you want to recommend.

So how about it?

ETA: I knew this kind of post would get a fair number of responses, but wow. Now I might have to actually keep my Blockbuster Online membership. LOL You can keep reccing, but I think my list is long enough for now, and plenty of them are currently available too. Thanks everybody!

If you haven't seen it, rent the original Shall We Dance. If for no other reason than to have something to compare the JLo/Richard Gere movie to. ALso I hear The Station Agent is pretty good. As a matter of fact I plan to rent that this weekend.

Oh and Die Mommie Die is good campy fun.

How about schlock horror?

Dog Soldiers is a very funny werewolf movie with a british cast.

I would also go for Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind if you like real quirky romance-drama.

Mulholland Dr. was a good one too.

Good Movies

If you haven't seen it, Better Than Chocolate is a great lesbian romance/comedy. One of my favorites, not mainstream, but a heck of a lot of fun to watch.

Dreamcatcher wasn't half bad...I enjoyed it

The Butterfly Effect was a great movie. Ashton Kutcher stars...and my hubby kept asking me for the first half an hour if i was sure that it wasn't 'Brian from QaF'! LOL

Enjoy!

I'm thinking about switching from Netflix to Blockbuster. What's the diff other than pricing by about $2 give or take? I also hear Amazon.com is getting into the renting act.

A favorite movie of mine is Get Real. It's gay british high school drama with forbidden love and sooo good. A REALLY fabulous movie. I'd recommend it to anyone.
