Let's pretend ::cough:: that I've seen practically no new movies in the past 6 years. I just joined Blockbuster Online, and I need recommendations. What (other than The Lord of the Rings Trilogy) do you recommend? I like romance, but not too mainstream. I like drama. I like some sci-fi. Anything with a gay theme will go to the top of the list. But I'm open to anything you want to recommend.

So how about it?

ETA: I knew this kind of post would get a fair number of responses, but wow. Now I might have to actually keep my Blockbuster Online membership. LOL You can keep reccing, but I think my list is long enough for now, and plenty of them are currently available too. Thanks everybody!

Aaaaaah! Too many all at once! LOL Obviously I've seen Latter Days, since I'm the one who started [livejournal.com profile] latterdaysfans. LOL I've seen a couple others on there too. Just added "Laurel Canyon" and "The Recruit" to my queue. Having a gorgeous guy in the movie helps, you know? hehe

Of all of those on the list though, do you have maybe 3 or so that really stand out for you?

They are all great films, but if I could only pick three, 2 would be Secondhand Lions and A Walk on the Moon. The third would much harder but I'm going to pick October Sky (just edging out Wonderland.) It's an older film but an excellent one.

I didn't actually list my all time favourite movie ever because I guessed you'd probably already seen it. It's Rear Window.

Added A Walk on the Moon. Secondhand Lions doesn't really sound like my kind of thing.

And yes, I've seen - and LOVE - Rear Window. Grace Kelly and Jimmy Stewart... fabulous.

Trust me on this one. It doesn't sound like anyone's kind of movie but I don't know a single soul who has seen it who didn't love it. That includes probably a thousand customers who like all kids of films, of all different ages. It's the only movie in the entire time I've worked at Blockbuster where every single person who saw it loved it. They would seek us out to tell us how great it was.

Huh. Well, okay. I'll keep it in mind. My list is getting way too long now though. LOL
