Ugh. DNW the Ryan rumors!
Sunday, December 14th, 2008 01:56 pmRyan and Keltie are still together. Both Ryan and his friend (and ex-gf) Kate - who does bear a striking resemblance to Keltie - confirmed this when I met both of them after the Phantom Planet show on Friday night. Actually it was at about 2am Saturday morning, but whatever.

The whole concept of ~rumors is just... I don't know. I just love the way they come flying out of the mouths (and/or keyboards) of people who haven't even made an effort to find out the truth. Wild assumptions FTW! Not.
I can't honestly say 100% for certain that there was no making out. I didn't have my eyes on them throughout the entire show. I mean... I was there to see Phantom Planet, not make sure Ryan wasn't cheating on his girlfriend. But to me, Ryan's body language definitely didn't look like that of a person who was with anyone other than a good friend. Kate was playing with Ryan's hair and putting her head on his shoulder and they did have their arms around each other at times, but I didn't see anything remotely resembling making out.
I *can* say that I met and talked to both Ryan and Kate after the show. Kate introduced herself to me while Ryan was talking to some other fans, and she and I talked for several minutes. She told me that she and Ryan dated a bit back before Ryan met Keltie and that they've stayed friends ever since. We had a significant enough conversation that when Ryan came back over to us, he said (while smiling - I swear he was smiling the whole night), "Are you girls bonding?" I just said "yep" and grinned. Kate said "Jennifer, I love you, man" and gave me a big hug. She uses the expression "man" the way some people call everyone "dude" or whatever. ::shrug::
Ryan claimed to recognize me from the Panic M&G's I've met him at. I suppose he could at least remember that he'd seen my face before - I have met him twice this year. He and I talked a bit about Black Gold. According to him, Eric was supposed to be at the show as well, but bailed because he and Than have been working on their latest video.
There's more, including my pic with Ryan that Kate took, but I'll post all that later. Oh - and I do know why Keltie's blog makes it sound a little like she and Ryan are breaking up. They aren't, but I know now what she means about the timing being wrong. I'm not going to explain further than that, except to say again that according to both Kate and Ryan, Ryan and Keltie are still together.
Anyway, I'm going back to bed. Been sleep deprived for a couple of days due to the trip to LA and back. It was SO INCREDIBLY WORTH IT THOUGH OMG!!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE ALEX, DARREN, JEFF AND SAM AND I LOVE RYAN ROSS, who was SO NICE to me even though he was sick and yes... I love you too, Kate. You didn't know me at all, and you were so friendly and sweet. Thank you for that. Oh, and I did get a hug from each of the guys in Phantom Planet, and a hug from Ryan as well. Life is good. And I want to move to LA so badly I can taste it.
P.S. - Someone posted some great pics from the show here: http://www.thecobrasnake.com/partyphotos/lastphantomplanet/ I don't see Kate in any of them though.

On the road again...
Friday, December 12th, 2008 12:13 pmLeaving for LA. You can always follow me on Twitter if you want. OMG, FINAL PHANTOM PLANET SHOW! Happy to be going. But so sad too.
If there's a patron saint of avoiding speeding tickets, ask them to bless me for the next 6-7 hours, k?

Selling my Phantom Planet final show tickets
Thursday, December 4th, 2008 03:54 amI just can't justify the cost of a hotel and gas and everything right now, plus I know there are lots of other people who really want to go to the show, so I decided to sell my tickets. I can't find *any* other tickets available for the show at this point. There were a few on Tickets Now - Ticketmaster's reseller site - a few days ago, but they're gone now and none of the other ticket selling sites seem to have any either.
Anyway... click here for the listing.
Some people might think it's a high starting bid, but it's actually low considering what I saw tickets listed for on Tickets Now. They had 2 tickets for $199 each and 6 tickets for $279 each. And they're all sold now.
Please, if anyone on my flist is going, please take video of the show? I'm really bummed about this, and even the idea of making a profit off the tickets doesn't cheer me up. Last show, last chance, bye bye. :-(

Meme (yes, really)
Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008 01:36 pmDoing it because as far as I know, all of my friends were nice enough (and smart enough) *not* to tag me. Ha.
a. People who have been tagged must write their answers on their blog and replace any question that they dislike with a new, original question.
b. Tag eight people. Don't refuse to do that. Don't tag who tagged you. (Like many of my friends, I'm refusing anyway. I hate being ordered to do something that should be voluntary. But any of my friends who haven't done this yet are invited to.)
1. What are your nicknames?
Other than some members of my family still calling me Jenny - a name I haven't gone by in decades and they all know I hate it - I don't have any nicknames that I know of
2. How do you style your hair?
hehe Style? What's that? It's pretty long right now, so I put it up in a bun or a ponytail usually. I have started straightening it sometimes when I'm going to a show or somewhere where I know I might have my picture taken.
3. What's new in your life right now?
The PATD Live in Chicago CD/DVD and book \o/ Also, depression pretty bad for the past few days. This is my worst time of year for it though, so I'm trying not to think of it as a major setback.
4. How many colors are you wearing now?
Red, black, charcoal gray, heather gray, white... so 5
5. Are you an introvert or extrovert?
Introvert, usually. Oddly assertive around celebrities though.
6. What was the last book you read?
Does Shane Valdés's "A Picture With Books" count? No? Then it was an excerpt from "Professional Guide to Diseases" or "The Merck Manual."
7. Do you nap a lot?
Not more than once a day. Is that a lot?
8. If the person you secretly like is already taken, what would you do?
It would totally depend on whether they had shown any interest in me at all. If the person is obviously happy with their current significant other, there's no way I'd try to get in the way of that.
9. Is there anything that has made you unhappy these days?
Oh, always. Most recently, overhearing my Dad talking to my brother about me and how he thinks I make terrible decisions in my life.
10. What was the last thing you ate today?
Maple and brown sugar hot oatmeal. Yum.
11. How long does it take you to get ready in the morning?
Too wide a range to describe here. If I shower and wash my hair and everything - 2 hours, usually. Yes, seriously. Although at least 30 minutes of that is spent in front of a fan cooling my stupid body off because it can't seem to regulate its temperature properly.
12. What websites do you visit daily?
LJ, Twitter, myspace. Often Facebook, Google search, Amazon. Some of my own sites to make sure they're running okay.
13. What classes are you taking right now? And if you're not in school anymore, what's your job?
haha Neither applies. No school and no job. And no plans right now for either one.
14. Do you like to clean?
I go through phases where I do, but usually not.
15. What do you want for Christmas?
My credit card bill paid off. Or paid down significantly. And no depression (the disease, not the mood) - for anyone - ever again.
16. What are you doing right now?
Doing this meme, listening to PATD Live in Chicago CD, thinking I need to book a hotel for my trip to LA for the final Phantom Planet show while at the same time debating just selling those tickets.
17. Who was your childhood idol?
When I was actually a child? Either Marie Osmond or Olivia Newton-John.
18. What would you do if you see $100 lying on the ground?
Just on the ground with no possible owner nearby? Yeah, I'd keep it.
19. What is your dream car?
Don't really have one. Something that gets good mileage, has a way to plug in my iPod, is comfortable and nice looking, but doesn't draw too much attention to itself.
20. Tell me something good.
I got an email from Jimmy Simak yesterday. \o/

Random stuff
Wednesday, November 26th, 2008 11:37 pmI just posted my address for anyone who likes sending out holiday cards. The post is locked to a filtered list of friends. If you can't see the post and want to be able to, just leave me a comment on this post.
As for me, I'm still coping with this viral bronchitis or whatever it is. Definitely reminds me of when I was sick at the beginning of the year (the 6 week Demon!Supercold), only not as bad, luckily.
BTW, you *can* reply to my Twitter messages that get posted here. I will see your replies. Just FYI. I just find it easier to post through Twitter right now, so most of my posts come through there. I know not everyone likes Twitter, but I do. ::shrug::
I'm so bummed about Phantom Planet going on "indefinite hiatus." Sounds to me like they're breaking up. I bought 2 tickets to their final show on Dec. 12th in West Hollywood, but just found out that I can't stay at my aunt & uncle's place - they've got other people visiting that night. So... hotel, I guess.
Anyway... must send a couple of emails, then I'm off to bed. We'll have a houseful for Thanksgiving tomorrow - parents, me, sister & family and youngest brother and family. Seven adults and five kids (all 8 years or younger).
Happy Thanksgiving to my US friends, and happy Thursday to my non-US friends. :-)

Pledge to vote and get free music!
Sunday, October 26th, 2008 12:23 amFrom Maroon 5's myspace blog:
Everyone I know is planning to vote anyway. Why not get some free music out of it?
Hey Everybody,
Maroon 5 just helped put together a free music playlist for you to download and we wanted to let you know about it.
A few weeks ago, they were hanging with a friend when they came up with an idea.
They said:
"Let's get a bunch of bands together and give away free music to people who pledge to vote. Then after they pledge, we can send them some information that helps them find out everything they need to know about early voting, absentee voting or just finding their neighborhood polling location."
We contacted the people at Rock The Vote to help run the project, recruited some very talented artists to give away songs and launched the thing this morning.
In less than one minute, you can get Free Music from Maroon 5, Sara Bareilles, Phantom Planet, Michael Franti, Ry Cuming and more simply by visiting:
http://www.rockthevote.com/pledge
All you have to do is fill out the pledge and then download the music. It's that easy. Please Rock the Vote. Spread the word to all your friends... Spread the music... Spread the love.
Thank you very much,
Maroon 5 and Friends.
Everyone I know is planning to vote anyway. Why not get some free music out of it?

OMG, how much do I love Greta and Alex?? Even though it must be tough for them, I love that The Hush Sound and Phantom Planet have been sharing a bus for the entire Honda Civic Tour and have ended up doing silly little things like make up songs about cereal together. It's adorable! Plus, I have a little crush on Alex. I do. He's gorgeous and tries so hard to look grungy and ugly, but it doesn't work Alex! And his corny sense of humor and his spazzing on (and off) stage and his creepy little laughs between lines of "Do The Panic." Yes. Just... yes. Plus, he used to model for The Gap. hahahaha
My pics from the Honda Civic Tour 4-10-08
Thursday, April 17th, 2008 03:30 amSo, the post-concert (and post-missing the meet & greet) blues are easing up a bit, and I decided to post my pictures. I kinda stopped looking at all the pics other people are posting, but I still suspect these are pretty typical. I did go through and remove most of the blurry ones, but there are still a few that I thought were worth posting despite not being perfectly in focus. There are a few pics of Phantom Planet, The Hush Sound and Motion City Soundtrack as well, but it's mostly Panic At The Disco. And although I really made an effort to get pics of all the Panic guys, the majority of them are of Brendon. You just can't take your eyes off that boy. He's got some unexplainable magnetic thing going on. Seriously.

I looked through the few video clips I did that night again, and I won't be posting any of those. They're all short little clips - no full songs at all - and none are all that great. Maybe I'll do better at the DC show. Although it's not that my camera wasn't capable of it - it's that my arms weren't. Ugh.
I sort of have little stories to tell about the show last Thursday, but... I don't feel like typing them all out. So let me just say that Eric Ronick is awesome - and TALL. And Shane Valdés (or Valdez, take your pick) is so much hotter in person. No picture I've seen of him does him justice. And he's super nice. And no - I did not ask him about being roomies with Brendon or whether or not that shower pic really is of him and Brendon or anything. Which may have been part of the reason he was so nice and so willing to talk about everything from "The Making of Pretty. Odd." DVD (which he edited in only 3 days) to the fact that he's doing the whole tour with the band (lucky bastard).
Hopefully I'll get another chance to talk to Shane and actually get Eric's autograph on my Black Gold CD and get another chance at a meet & greet with Panic - the latter being something I'm currently fighting with Artist Arena about.
Oh! You can find my scans of the tour booklet here.
So, I'm off to the Washington DC area on Saturday, and will be out there until May 24th. For those who might be wondering, my brother and his family live near DC and I made plans some time ago to go visit them this summer. They just had a new baby about a month ago, and I can't wait to see the little guy. It just worked out well that Panic is doing their DC show while I'm out there. I'm also meeting
llvoncan in NYC to see the closing night show of "Antony & Cleopatra" with Randy Harrison. And we're staying really close to the Angels & Kings bar, so I'm hoping to stop by there for a drink and a photo or something (
celiarosalind - want to come with me?)... but I'll only be in NYC for about 30 hours, so we'll see. If any of my other east coast friends want to try and meet up while I'm out there, let me know.
Guess that's it for now.
