::waves:: Remember me? I used to post here occasionally.

I can't believe I haven't updated since the kidney stone thing! I suck. It took about a week altogether to pass, but I wasn't in pain that entire time or anything. Never did go to the hospital, and I'm glad I didn't. Anyway, that's over and done with, thank god.
Now it's just my effing VNS implant that's a pain. Literally. (For details, see the latest update in my VNS Diary.)
Other than that, I've spent a good part of my time over the past couple of weeks working on the BJfic.net site. I'm actually rather enjoying it, and I've made some new friends in the process. ::waves to the admin team:: If you're interested in keeping up to date on the changes we're making, or have a suggestion for us, join
bjficsite. That's what the community was created for. And we really do and will listen to reasonable, well thought out suggestions. The final decisions still rest with the site owner, but we're always open to new ideas.
I recently was pointed in the direction of, and friended, a fellow Northern Californian. And it got me wondering... is anyone else on my f-list in Northern CA? I know that
anniegirlsf92 is, 'cause she's the one I just friended. ::waves:: Last I heard,
shimmergirl was in the Bay Area too. Anyone else? Anyone in the central valley? Just curious.
Unrelated, but:

If you're unhappy with some of the changes they've been making here on LJ, like the new edit profile page or the now-completely-separate comment options page or viewing options page or the funky new journal display section, go sign the petition. It's already gotten the attention of Six Apart, owners of Live Journal, but the more names on it the better, right?
And, as usual, I'm sure there was more I wanted to say, but for the life of me I can't remember what. So... later all.
Oh yeah, PITA computer problems too. Yay me.

Date: Monday, July 3rd, 2006 03:15 am (UTC)Yeah - I do know about that site. Herb runs that forum... he and I have communicated a few times. He's become quite the advocate for the VNS for Depression web community. If you look on my VNS Diary page at the links section, you'll see his site is one of several listed. ;-)
Okay, that's really weird. I just clicked on the link to the vnsdepression.com board in your post, and it takes me to the *other* VNS message board. There's this one: http://www.vnsdepression.com/ and then there's this one: http://s4.invisionfree.com/VNS_Message_Board/index.php Did you mean to do that?
Anyway, there's plenty of data regarding vocal cord damage from the vns implant surgery and voice problems after surgery, but I haven't found any data on patients who have *pre-existing* vocal cord damage, specifically paralysis on the opposite side from where the vns is attached. It's a rather unusual situation.
You're so sweet to go looking for info for me, H. Thank you. ::hugs::
