So yeah... the Panic At The Disco concert was Thursday night. Neither [livejournal.com profile] darksylvia or I got to meet the band after all because Artist Arena - the company handling the fan club and promotions and the meet & greet contests - completely fucked it up. You can read a little more about that in [livejournal.com profile] darksylvia's LJ here. I don't feel like talking about it. I was kind of okay about missing it at the time, but now? I'm really *not* okay with it.

Anyway, the post-big event blues have hit me hard. I'm looking at the pictures and stories that other people are posting of the show I was at and the one the following night, and I don't know if I'll even bother posting my pictures. The ones that turned out look just the same as everyone else's. The few video clips I took are just bits and pieces of songs and the sound quality isn't all that great on them. So I came home with nothing particularly exceptional. Didn't even get a chance to look at the merch booth, much less buy anything.

I did get to meet Eric Ronick and Shane Valdés before the show, and talked to Shane on and off during and after the show as well. He's really cool, and much better looking in person. The pics I've seen of him really don't do him justice. Eric is awesome, but I didn't get to meet up with him again after the show and have him sign my Black Gold CD. :-( Zack (FYI, it is spelled with a "k" - I checked) is also completely awesome. I really felt like he was pissed off on our behalf that we weren't given the right info for the meet & greet and had to miss it. Even though his first priority is keeping the guys safe and happy, he does a damn good job of keeping the fans safe and happy too, you know?

The concert itself was great, but I'm just not physically able to make it through shows like this. I managed to stay down in the pit with [livejournal.com profile] darksylvia for the first two bands, but after that, I had to leave her and find someplace where I could breathe and actually get off my feet for a few minutes. Sat on the floor with another woman the same age as me - who was there with her two young teenage daughters - through most of Motion City Soundtrack's set. And I didn't even attempt to get back up front for Panic even though part of me wanted to. Of course, if I had gone back up front, I wouldn't have run into Shane again. He was right out in the audience and was very friendly and willing to talk to me. Nice guy.

I guess the only other thing I have to say is that I'm really glad that the other show I'm going to on this tour - the Washington DC show on April 30th - is all reserved seating and I have really good seats. A seat. That I can sit in. Yeah - I know everyone will be standing, but I can still sit now and then if I need to. It sucks to be old and in less-than-ideal health. :-( Such a lovely note to end this post on, but there you go. ::shrug::

At least you are getting out there. Isn't it better than just sitting in your room? You're with a friend. Friends are good.

Sorry, you missed the meet and greet. I would be pissed, too. lol

Hang in there, Jen

Sorry you didn't get to meet the band, Jen, but glad you got to go to the concert and have another chance later on, too. I finally saw them perform on SNL last week and was surprised at how good they were. Not that I *didn't* think they'd be good, LOL, but I didn't expect them to have such a unique sound. Very cool.

*hugs*

I'm glad you have another show coming your way later in the month. :)

Why DC?

Yeah, I'd totally be pissed if I missed a meet and greet and read a bunch of reviews about it. You guys should write a collective hate letter to the venue because that's absolutely ridiculous.

I also know what you mean about standing in the pit. I'm 23 but I used to be able to wait in line all day, stand in a pit, and think no thing about it. Unfortunately, I find myself totally uncomfortable waiting all day and if I don't have access to food or water during a show then I usually feel like I'm going to pass out (diabetes :| ) I always prefer seating when I can get it.

You'll have a good time in DC!

awww! At least you got to go, though. And brilliant that you were able to meet Eric and Shane.

The venue or whoever srewed up the info should compensate, give you, at least, something.

Ugh, I have post-concert blues. It's a good thing I'm doing stuff, or it would be a lot worse. If I just had to go back to work the day after the concert or something, I'd be downright depressed. I mean, hopefully not for long, but I think this post-concert blues is totally unavoidable. At least we both have future concerts to look forward to. I'm hoping that once I compose a hate letter to Artist Arena, they'll give me another meet and greet so I don't have to rely on Zack's good graces.

*hugs you*

Ugh, nothing pisses me off more than people who are purportedly in charge of events, and whose incompetence then leads me to believe they shouldn't be in charge of flushing a toilet at the right moment!!

*Sends Happy Hugs* :)

Oh, Jen, I am so sorry to hear that the meet and greet scheduling got messed up. :-( I can only imagine how awful that was when you had been looking forward to it so much, but I'm happy to hear you enjoyed the concert overall. I'm not sure I saw anything from you about the Kimmel performance, how was that? I am so behind with Panic media, I haven't seen the Kimmel or SNL videos, and now there will be a flood of HCT videos to catch up with too.

I feel bad saying this now, but I just remembered to check the Northern Downpour site for the M&G for the May dates...and I am on the list for Boston. (!!!) So I am looking forward to that, but I feel sad for you that your M&G didn't happen. Also now everyone can Google stalk my name. Hrumph. I think I might share your negative feelings towards Artist Arena.

If you do want to post your pictures, I'd like to see them - it will save me the trouble of wading through /patd. But no worries if you don't want to, I know what you mean about the pictures looking the same after a while. Hope you're feeling better...
