I am going to see Black Gold in LA on Sunday night! Yes! I made it work. I had dreamed up a plan to go down there and see them Sunday and stay a few days visiting with my aunt, uncle and cousins and then see Black Gold play again on Wednesday night, but that was maybe a little over-ambitious and it won't, unfortunately, work out (free accommodations are only available on Sunday night). But still - Sunday night! Black Gold! YES!!!

Any LA people want to go with me?

In other wonderfully fabulous news, [livejournal.com profile] darksylvia and I both have our plane reservations for our Panic At The Disco concert exchange extravaganza! She's flying down here for the Sacramento show (Oct. 12th), then we're both flying back to Seattle for the show up there (Oct. 14th), and then I'm staying a few extra days with her. Because she's so awesome and wonderful and cool.

And did I mention that WE'RE SEEING PANIC AT THE DISCO TOGETHER AGAIN??? TWICE???? That will make 4 times we have seen them together this year. This is also incredibly awesome and wonderful and cool. :-D

I ♥ you Leah!! We get to reinvent ♥ with Panic AGAIN!!!

In other not-so-wonderful news, one of my birds is sick. She spit up a whole bunch of seeds she ate today and it was messy and gross (and she was definitely *not* trying to feed my other bird or her bird reflection in the mirror - she was... like... vomiting them up. My poor baby.). It left her face sticky and so I got her out and carefully cleaned her face off for her - that's a hard area for them to groom themselves - and then was just kind of looking her over and there were some other not-so-good signs... like her vent area being all clumped and dirty, and - the really scary part IMHO - she has a growth on her neck. Some kind of cyst thing. She's kind of overweight anyway, so she's been able to hide it up until now, I guess. This is not good. My first bird, Kirby... my most beloved of all birds... had a huge growth on her upper back, and died shortly after I found it and got her to the vet. At least I seem to have found this one much earlier - it's not nearly as large - but still... I'm pretty worried. So, I'll be calling the vet in the morning. At least we have a really good avian vet about an hour away from us. We have a local vet who treats birds too, but he's not actually an avian specialist.

So things are kind of roller coaster-y for me emotionally right now. The depression is still there, but I'm really trying to fight it off. But jeez... I look at this post and all these things I'm doing and ugh... I bet we're talking about somewhere between $700 and $800 for all these things, including the vet bill. At this rate, it'll take me a couple of years to pay off my credit card.

Hope everything is well with all of you, wonderful f-list people. :-)

Yay! We'll definitely hang out.

So how about the Black Gold show on Sunday? Wanna come with? I'm staying at my uncle's in Orange, so it'd be pretty easy to just pick you up on the way there. Come on... it's only $7. You know you want to. ;-D

OMG WE WILL REINVENT LOVE SO MUCH.

Your poor birdy :(

I still think you should go for some freelance webwork, or something. You have enough experience to do people's graphics and stuff!

My poor birdie seems to be fine today, other than the cyst on her neck, of course. Me - not so good. I was up all night being sick myself. Don't know if I ate something I shouldn't have or if I didn't clean up well enough after cleaning the birdcage or something, but after the night I had, I'm feeling like I got punched in the gut and don't really want to eat anything. Ugh. So my birdie Kiley will have to wait a few days, unfortunately. I need to feel better in time to go to LA Sunday. That sounds wrong, doesn't it? Putting my trip ahead of my bird's health. But she really seems fine today, and I doubt that cyst will change much between now and Tuesday.

Freelance, yes. But how does one get started doing that? I have no idea. :- /

When I was talking to some friends a couple weeks ago, they metioned E-Lance in passing. They have a design jobs section. My friends' company was using people through E-Lance for small programming tasks, but maybe you could find design jobs there? It looks like a lot of foreign companies, though, I don't know how that works for tax purposes. But maybe something to check out...?

Sorry to hear about your bird, I hope it will be okay. Have fun on your trip!
