One of my wallpapers has been taken by - get this - a B/M shipper! ::shudder:: - and made into a B/M wallpaper along with one of Liz's (of Intense) Mikey wallpapers.

Just so there's no question - the Gale pic of mine that was stolen has only ever been available as a black and white picture. I *HAND COLORED* it. This B/M wallpaper uses the colorized version.

Naturally, the person in question has been banned from my update list.

In addition, I've deleted the generic account for the gallery. If you've been using this account:
username: dontsteal
password: myart
you'll now have to actually create your own account to access the gallery. Don't worry - it's easy to do. Just go here and read the directions (but as I said, you now *have* to create a personal account if you want access):

Sorry for the inconvenience, but blame the latest thief, not me.

JenR - who is *not* into watersports and is effing tired of being pissed on.

People suck. I live in terror of seeing Correspondence pop up on someone's web site credited to them. Or seeing my Black and White project similarly.

Sorry about this sweets. What possible excuse could the person give you when you confronted them?

I feel almost guilty for telling you! I know it sucks. I don't think asking people to login is an inconvenience. It's such a simple thing to do and damn smart too. If this keeps up, it's probably something I should look into. Of course, though, I'm such a coding dumbass ...

I e-mailed her. Tried to be 'polite 'lil me' and explain why we're upset. I also told her she should redo the wallpaper with her own originality (if she has any) and to not get it from other people. Haven't heard back from her yet.

Hm.
There's a certain amount of "wow, cool" involved when something you do is used.
But if you're trying to Do Something, and people who see your art have to actually type "dontsteal" "myart" to get in to see your art, there is no excuse for them not asking if they can use it.

Your copyright is firm from the moment you make a piece, if you can prove you made it. Without a pre-listed price, you may set any reasonable price, and charge them. While kinda harsh, it does get the message across that using people's stuff without asking is theft.
