I got a new bird!!
K - for those who don't know, I've had at least one budgerigar aka budgie aka parakeet for the past 11 years or so. Love them... they're sweet and pretty and... I love 'em. So anyway, my beloved bird Kirby - my first bird ever whom I'd had for 11 years - died just before Thanksgiving last year. She's been my constant companion throughout my battle with thyroid cancer, and she was very special to me. I do have another budgie - a 3 year old male named Riley. He is lost without Kirby. Just having a rough time of it. And he doesn't like me as much as Kirby did. Kirby belonged to me, and Riley belonged to Kirby. That's the way it was.
So Riley and I have both been mourning the loss of Kirby, but I didn't want to rush into getting another bird. Anyway, a friend of my mom's breeds them, so I finally went over there today and picked one out. A beautiful 9 month old female, white/aqua blue/pale yellow combination. Really pretty and very sweet. I'm sure I'll put pictures up here sooner or later.
But I haven't been able to think of a good name for her yet. All my birds have had 5 letter names ending in Y, so I sort of want to keep with that theme. Kirby - female, Colby - male, and Riley - male. So it can be either female sounding, or more ambiguous like the other names I've used.
So, any ideas?
