Is the 1995 Japanese film "Shall We Dance" the original? Yes it is. The difference between the two (IMO) is you get all these undertones that about Japenese society that are part of the reason that he starts taking dance lessons and why he keeps it a secret. I'm really bad at describing stuff, but sereaously, it's a good movie. Bravo sometimes airs it as well.
