My other places on the web. Feel free to friend any of them. If you want me to friend you back, better make sure I know who you are.

http://jenepherre.vox.com/
http://www.myspace.com/jenepherre
http://www.last.fm/user/jenepherre/ (I don't use the blog on this one, but it'd be nice to have more friends there.)

My VNS Diary doesn't really count anymore since not only am I not using my bionic implant anymore, but I also had to turn off commenting due to spam.

The best place to find me, though, is over on Randall's Yahoo group: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/rramblers/
I'm co-owner there with Randall ([livejournal.com profile] brianakinney & [livejournal.com profile] rand_alt) and Cael ([livejournal.com profile] justintheartist & [livejournal.com profile] irishcaelan).

Hopefully we won't be subjected to another LJ outage for at least another year though. ::fingers crossed::

So, thanks to the generous and kind [livejournal.com profile] mi_nion, I now have a vox account to add to my collection of blogs, journals and whatnot. My immediate reaction after setting up my account? It can't - and I don't think is intended to - replace LJ in any way. It certainly can't replace it for me. My main complaints:

In regard to the look/design of your blog:

We have a variety of templates available to you at this time, and will continue to increase our design options. More designs are in the works so you can express your personality with the look of your blog site. Because Vox is a service that provides the designs for you, it's not necessary to spend time finding a design or creating one yourself. Spend your time creating posts and content instead!

It's not necessary for us to create our own designs! In other words, you *can't* create your own designs. No more QAF or Gale or assorted hot guys or Eeyore header graphics for me. Well, on Vox anyway.

Member photos:

Your Member Photo is used to represent you throughout Vox, both on your published blog, and when you leave a comment on another Vox member's site. It will also be used when another Vox member adds you to their neighborhood pages, so be sure to use something uniquely identifying!

If you decide you don't like your photo, or if you'd prefer to be something different every day, you can do that too!

If it's a new photo, follow the same process for adding your photo (above), and it will replace your previous photo with your new photo. Feel free to be creative. Use a picture of your favorite pet, your new house, the sunset off the beach on your honeymoon. Use images that mean something to you.

If you'd like to use a previous image, find the image in your Vox Library, and switch! Easy as that.

Oh yay. So it doesn't sound like the number of photos you can have uploaded is currently limited in any way, but you can only have 1 active at a time, and that includes posts and comments on other posts, etc. Oh - and I couldn't find anywhere on the site where it said what size the pics are supposed to be. It does say this:

Tip: Large images will automatically be resized into the proper size for your Member Photo.

But no mention of what the "proper size" is. Depending on what page you're on, it looks like they shrink them to anywhere from 36 pixels square to 50 pixels square to ?? I uploaded a 100x100 pixel icon I made for LJ, and it does show up full size on my profile page, but that's it. And it looks butt ugly they way they shrink it down. It looks like they just change the img src dimension tags instead of actually making a smaller version of the pic. So it's all pixel-y and gross.

One thing I will not give up is my userpics. Nuh-uh.

All that aside, I need some friends over there. Who else here has a Vox account?
