DAZ Productions Offers Bryce 5.0 (for Win/Mac), a 3D content creation application, as a free download until September 6. Bryce 5 creates realistic 3D landscapes and animations. Go here for more info: http://www.daz3d.com/program/bryce/bryce5free.php

I really like it for abstract stuff. You can make some really wild stuff really easily, and use it as a texture layer on something else you're working on. Lots of fun. But there are also tons of free objects out there you can download and import into Bryce. Furniture, plants, spaceships... you name it. I used an abstract that I made in Bryce as the base for the image I made for my InXplicable site splash page, here.

Here's a few other things I've made with Bryce in the past...
Bryce abstract Bryce abstract
Bryce ice abstract Bryce abstract
Bryce meadow with trees Bryce shoreline with tidepool

Go download it while it's still FREE!! And pass this on to anyone you think might be interested.

Quinn, you could have some serious fun with this program. One other thing I did with it was this story graphic for Randall:
Last Man Standing

I found a model for the book, and I think I created the model for the Cartier box myself in 3ds Max, and rendered them in Bryce. Then I took it into PSP to add the text and embellishments.

I can only imagine the cool stuff you could come up with in it.

Bunham! So which Gale!Sim is that on your icon? He looks a bit peeved. LOL

Yeah, when I got the notice saying they were offering Bryce for free - legally - I had to share that. Figured there had to be a few other people out there who wanted it. ;-)

Hee, that's Agent Kelton! :D

*huggles peeved!Kelton*

Thanks again for the Bryce heads-up. Do you know if you have to install & register it before Sept 6?

Well, you certainly can't blame Kelton for being peeved, can you? Does he at least have his adorable daughter Inez in Simland? She was so pretty. And she grabbed her daddy's nose! I loved that part. hehehe

As for Bryce, I would assume that you *do* need to install and register before the 6th, yes. After you register, there's another file you have to d/l too - with presets and textures and stuff. BTW, if you for some reason have trouble d/ling it, I can upload it somewhere for you. But you shouldn't have any trouble with it as long as you install and register by the 6th.

::huggles you back!::

Of course he has Inez! ;) She has no mommy and always sleeps in Kelton's bed for some odd reason.

Okay, thanks for the Bryce tip. It downloaded fine, now I just need to install it by the 6th!

You're welcome. There are lots of tutorials out there, and as 3D rendering programs go, this is definitely the easiest to use, IMO.

I'm sure it's way beyond me. But, I've got to look.

Hey sweetie... ::hugs:: You might surprise yourself. It might seem a little intimidating at first, but once you get the basic concepts down, you'd be surprised how many different things you can do with it.

What do I do about a serial number? It says I have to register and it keeps asking for one.

It should have given you a prompt to go to the Daz site and get one. Here's what the info page says:

Once you have completed your installation, you will be prompted to register your copy at the DAZ3D.com website to receive your Bryce 5 serial number. At that time, you'll also be able to download the Bryce 5 presets.

Here - try this link: https://www.daz3d.com/program/bryce/breg.php

I got it, after I sent the email.

I got locked into the program and couldn't shut it down.

Hey, those are some pretty cool graphics! However, I don't think my poor old computer can handle it. Thanks for the heads up anyway.
