Which means I'll be offline for awhile. I expect it could be a whole... ::gasp:: 24 hours! I'll be in withdrawals by then. But excited to have the new 'puter.

It was actually a great day for packages. I got 2 Eeyore books from [livejournal.com profile] drkcherry - and they are sooooo adorable!!! I love them Elaine - thank you!!! Not sure what the occasion was, but who cares? LOL

Also got the hard drive enclosure that I'm going to use to turn my current hard drive into an external USB hard drive. [livejournal.com profile] quinn222 and I are brilliant! :-)

Then 2 boxes from Dell arrived, and all was right with the world. hehehehehe

Okay... I'm off to clean up files so they're all on 1 drive and take out my CD-RW drive and install it in the new 'puter and turn my current hard drive into an external drive and then... well, lots of other fun technical stuff. No idea how long it'll take to install all my software, so it's a good thing I use Outlook Express for email, since it's preinstalled.

Enough jabbering. Later gang!

Jen

It doesn't effing work. I'm so pissed right now. I did everything right - twice now - and the System Properties even says the device is working right, but it won't fucking show up in Windows Explorer, so how am I supposed to access any files on it or save anything to it? I've tried everything I can think of. The 'manual' - if you can call it that - is absolutely no help at all. It doesn't even say anywhere on the box or manual who made the damn thing, so I have no way to look up a website for them. I may have to call that company we bought them from... ::sigh::

Everything seems to indicate that I've done it right except that it doesn't show up anywhere as a drive or as anything I can actually access. Any ideas?

Damn. I don't have a clue. Mine is supposed to get here Monday. I'll play with it and see what happens.

I just sent an email to extremepcgear asking them if they could either tell me who the manufacturer is and give me some contact info for them, or if they'd like to provide technical support themselves. Ha. I'll let you know if I hear anything. Turns out extremepcgear is not only here in CA, but in the SF Bay Area - not too far from where I live.

The only thing the box says about the manufacturer, which does not instill confidence, is "Made In China." That's it. Nothing else.

Meanwhile, I'm gonna see if my brother can send me his computer to computer transfer kit that he bought with his Dell a few months back. Either way, I have to put my old computer back together.

God I have a headache.
